Environment: 2024 Sets All-Time Global Temperature Record at 1.5C+
Six independent climate monitoring organizations — NASA, NOAA, WMO, Copernicus, Berkeley Earth, and Carbon Brief — all confirmed that 2024 was the hottest year in recorded history. Annual global surface temperatures exceeded the pre-industrial baseline by 1.46 to 1.62 degrees C depending on dataset and methodology, marking the first calendar year to cross the 1.5C Paris Agreement threshold.
