Omdia's retrospective 2025 telecom-connectivity report puts global 5G connections at just over 3 billion by year-end 2025, up 34% year-on-year. That final tally runs ahead of the two point-in-time forecasts made earlier in the year: GSMA's January 2025 outlook projected 2.7 billion connections by year-end, and Ericsson's Mobility Report data describes the same period only as roughly 660 million net adds reaching one-third of all mobile subscriptions, without committing to a single absolute headline count. The gap illustrates how fast 5G adoption accelerated relative to early-year industry projections, and how differently trade trackers choose to report the same underlying rollout.
