Global EV Sales Hit a 2025 Record -- Trackers Split Between 20.7 and 22 Million Units

Every major tracker agrees 2025 was a record year for global electric vehicle sales, but the published full-year totals disagree by more than a million units. Rho Motion counted 20.7 million EVs sold (+20% YoY); EV-Volumes.com counted a higher 21.6 million; BloombergNEF's in-year outlook had projected almost 22 million. The spread reflects differing vehicle-type scope and forecast-versus-final timing more than any real disagreement on direction -- China, Europe, and North America's regional trends line up across all three.
