Terms of Use

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using UVRN, its public API, SDKs, or any associated services (collectively, the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These terms apply to all users, developers, and third parties interacting with UVRN infrastructure.

2. What UVRN Is

UVRN is a consensus engine and verification receipt network. It allows developers and systems to register, verify, and retrieve cryptographically signed receipts representing events, claims, and computations. UVRN is not a data storage service, a financial instrument, or a legal record-keeping system.

3. Permitted Use

You may use UVRN to:

• Submit, retrieve, and verify receipts via the public API or SDK
• Build applications and integrations on top of the UVRN protocol
• Access public ledger data for research, verification, or display purposes
• Evaluate UVRN for use in your products or workflows

4. Prohibited Conduct

You may not use UVRN to:

• Submit false, fabricated, or misleading receipt data intended to deceive other users or systems
• Scrape, mirror, or bulk-export ledger data for resale or redistribution without written permission
• Attempt to overwhelm, destabilize, or circumvent UVRN infrastructure through automated abuse, denial-of-service attacks, or rate limit evasion
• Reverse-engineer or extract private keys, secrets, or signing credentials from UVRN systems
• Use UVRN receipts to make fraudulent claims in legal, financial, or regulatory contexts
• Impersonate UVRN, Suttle Media, or any other entity in receipt payloads or API interactions
• Use the API to build competing receipt infrastructure that replicates UVRN's ledger without attribution or license
• Circumvent authentication, API key requirements, or access controls by any means

Violations may result in immediate API key revocation, IP blocking, and where applicable, legal action.

5. API Keys and Access

API keys are issued for your use only. You are responsible for keeping your keys confidential. Do not share, publish, or embed API keys in public repositories or client-side code. UVRN reserves the right to revoke any key at any time for violation of these terms or suspicious activity. Future access tiers, including authenticated accounts and paid plans, will be governed by additional terms published at the time of their release.

6. Rate Limits and Fair Use

UVRN enforces rate limits to ensure fair access for all users. Current limits are documented at uvrn.org/docs. Automated systems must respect these limits. Deliberate attempts to exceed rate limits — including distributing requests across multiple IPs, API keys, or proxies to bypass enforcement — are a violation of these terms.

7. Receipts and Data Integrity

Once a receipt is registered on the UVRN ledger, it is permanent and cannot be modified. You are responsible for the accuracy of any data you submit. UVRN provides cryptographic verification of receipt integrity but does not verify the real-world truth of receipt content. Do not rely on UVRN receipts as sole proof in legal, medical, financial, or safety-critical decisions.

8. Future Features: OAuth and Paid Plans

UVRN is building toward authenticated user accounts (OAuth), premium API access tiers, and developer tooling subscriptions. These features will be governed by updated or supplemental terms published prior to their availability. By using UVRN now, you acknowledge that the Service will evolve and that future access to certain features may require account creation, identity verification, or payment.

9. Intellectual Property

The UVRN protocol specification, SDK, and associated tooling are open-source. The UVRN name, logo, and brand assets are owned by Suttle Media and may not be used without permission. Receipt data submitted by users remains owned by the submitter; by submitting, you grant UVRN a perpetual, irrevocable license to store, display, and provide verification of that data as part of the public consensus ledger.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

UVRN is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uptime, data durability beyond reasonable commercial efforts, or fitness for any particular purpose. Use the Service at your own risk.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Suttle Media shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of UVRN, including but not limited to data loss, service interruptions, or reliance on receipt data.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of UVRN after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Material changes will be announced via the UVRN website or API changelog.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
